FAQ:

Can skunks use a litter pan?

Yes, most will. They like to use a corner, so it is best to place their litter pan in a corner of the room where they spend most of their time.

Are their scent glands removed?

Yes, we have them descented before they go home.

Do skunks act more like a cat or a dog?

They are somewhat a mix of both. They are sometimes compared to ferrets, who tend to play hard then sleep hard and are most active at dawn and dusk. Skunks each have their own personalities, some are more outgoing and playful and some are more shy and reserved.

What's better, a boy or girl?

Their personalities vary. Gender doesn't seem to influence their personalities.

Are they spayed and neutered?

No. Most veterinarians will not spay or neuter them until they are 4-6 months of age.

Do I need a special permit to own a skunk?

Yes, in the state of Oklahoma, you will need to apply for a "non-commercial breeder's license." It is simple to obtain and is $10/year. See link below.

Is shipping available?

No. Babies go home at 6-8 weeks of age to bond with their new family. At this age, they need a snack every six hours during the day to keep their blood sugar levels up.

Skunks

Our baby skunks are born once a year in late spring and are typically ready to go home June through July. We raise traditional black and white striped skunks as well as some skunks that are "marbled" with a chocolate or espresso color. "Marbling" is a swirly pattern as opposed to the traditional striped pattern.

Care:

The most routine care needed for skunks is giving canine dewormer every 3 months and trimming their nails as needed. Before you take your baby home, we will provide you with a comprehensive informational packet regarding skunk care and diet.
